What makes us grow consistently, regardless of market conditions? According to Mennold, the answer is very clear. "When people ask me what's the number one reason we're successful, there's only one answer – our culture. It's the most important thing."
Since 2011, we've grown every single year, expanding from zero to €240 million. Now, we've set our sights on becoming the next tech staffing unicorn, a bold vision supported by our proven organisational model.
At the base of our success lies our unique cellular organisational model, where autonomous business units operate independently within our larger company framework. Each unit functions as its own entity, led by managers who run their own businesses.
"I strongly believe in entrepreneurial cells," Mennold explains. "We never want to become and act like a conventional corporate. We want to become the largest scale up in the world”.
It is a powerful combination: the agility and frontline obsession of a small business with the resources and stability of a larger organisation.
Our cellular structure preserves what we feel is essential in the staffing business – a frontline obsession with clients and candidates. "When people don't feel like a number, they will take more ownership and develop a real obsession with serving clients and candidates," Mennold says.
He contrasts this with conventional corporates where employees often count the minutes until they can leave. "We want to maintain that founder's mentality. We believe it delivers better service to our clients and candidates, and creates a more motivating environment for our people."
For Vibe Group, growth doesn't mean changing the formula. "We've already proven this model works – we just need to expand it," says Mennold. Our expansion strategy is based on 2 pillars:
Vibe Group recently launched in Hamburg. "We started small with one manager, and after a few months we now have eight people working there," Mennold proudly recounts.
While we currently focus on IT staffing, our cell structure model gives us the flexibility to expand into related tech fields. "We're planning to expand into engineering in January 2026," Mennold explains. "From there, we could move into other specialised disciplines. Each new specialisation becomes its own cell with dedicated teams who are experts in their field. And again, all while maintaining our entrepreneurial culture."
This allows us to grow both geographically and across different technical domains while preserving the core elements that make our model successful.
Mennold describes our leadership style that balances autonomy with support. "More experienced managers need more space," he explains. "We offer suggestions, but ultimately, it's their business to run. With junior managers, we provide more guidance."
To back up this approach, learning and development is indispensable. We invest substantially in our High Performance Leadership Program, an intensive training with performance coaches who also work with premier sports teams.
Mennold's perspective on the Vibe team culture is refreshingly direct: "I don't want to work with people who lack passion. It's demotivating. I want to work with people I get inspiration from, and hopefully they get inspiration from me. Life is too short to just be putting in time."
